Blessed Advent, Glorious Christmas, Joyful New Year

We wish you a blessed Advent, a glorious Christmas, and a joyful New Year

Dear Friends:

We won't be sending traditional Christmas cards this year. For any of you who don't know, Sue has had a total right hip replacement, and while she is doing great...walking with a cane, going to church next Sunday (God willing), planning our annual Christmas party (Dec. 15) and our annual birthday dinner at Aventino's in Fort Worth (Dec. 16). Don't know if we will be delivering bread on Christmas Eve, either. Carolyn has been an absolute blessing to us, but we don't think we'll be able to make bread this year...just have to wait until week after next and see. We are hoping to attend a New Year's Eve party in Frisco. Haven't attended a New Year's Eve party in years and years.

Retirement is really agreeing with us, and we are traveling, and reading, and bird watching, and visiting with family and friends, and doing art and photography, and sewing and writing, and making music.

Our children and grandchildren are doing very well. Carolyn and family are still here in Mineral Wells., thank God. Carolyn works at Travis Elementary; Darrell works as the IT guy for our local hospital. John is a junior at Tarleton State University in Stephenville. He is majoring in business and marketing. Joey is a senior at MWHS. He has joined the Marines and will go to boot camp in San Diego in July. Beth is in 5th grade and is playing lots of sports. She just completed a season of select league softball. She plays catcher.

Kathi and Steve are in Trophy Club, part of Roanoke, Texas. Kat is working in a behavior unit for the Keller IDS, and Steve is a medical salesman. Dani is now a teenager and cheerleader at Fort Worth Christian Academy. Tim is in 5th grade at FWCA, and his passion is basketball.

Christi and Brian are in Graham. They are in the midst of building a house at Lake Graham. They are hoping to be in by Christmas. Jennifer is a 5th grader and is a writing whiz...using the name J.K. Smith (J. K. Rowling, watch out). Travis is now 8 and in 1st grade. He is absolutely all boy!

Raf and Sioux went to the east coast this past spring, visiting John in Nashville; Allan and Eleanor in Virginia; Martha, Dick, Barb, Bob, Nancy, and Bob in Pennsylvania; and Mary Lynn in Ohio. We also attended the East Coast rmmga gathering in Virginia. It was a great trip. We had a ball!

We took some trips around Texas this summer, too, and ended our travels in October by going to Brownsville for Bob Berry's 60th birthday and then to Wimberley for TX-7 of rmmga. We are prejudiced, but our Texas gatherings are the best. Al and Cea plan a fabulous time, and it is a much more relaxed time...and fun, music, music, fun.

Sue had her hip surgery on Nov. 6, and now we are just waiting to recover so that we can start traveling again. Right now we are planning a Rockport trip, a trip to Nashville in May to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and some more trips...to Panama, to Key West, and to England...probably not next year but soon!

We are blessed to be in the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth with a bishop who is protecting us. We have a part time rector, Father Phelps, and we are praying that our parish will flourish as we work together to do what we pray is God's will.

Again, we pray all of you are well, healthy, happy, and looking toward to a wonderful 2007.

Love, Raf and Sue
