Art Journal Peek

Our Giving Hands group is doing two pass alongs.  The first are art journals.  This is the first page of the first journal.  It came to me from Utah and will travel next week to the UAE for its next page.  If you are interested in a super new art group, this might be the one for you!

We cry out for needed rain

First Day of Spring Road Trip

Today was a beautiful day, with the temperatures in the upper 70s.  The birds were singing madly, but we saw few wildflowers on the sides of the road.  And, since this is Texas, we check Spring by the mesquite trees.  If they aren't in bud, it can still get cold.  And they are not in bud yet!  However looking a Wunderground Weather tells me it's very unlikely to freeze again.  We shall see.

Today was a wonderful day, and we traveled to Tolar, Texas, to visit with my oldest, closest friend.  We have known each other "since before we were born", as my mother used to say.

We had a wonderful time visiting with Dianne and Dub.  Dianne and I never run out of things to talk about!
Kitty was beautiful, but he didn't want his photo taken.  I did it anyway, and he licked my toes!
The Honey Locust was in bloom beside Di's home.  Sorry the blooms are not in focus.  This was the prettiest flower we saw on the trip!

Of course the sun was in the wrong place for this photo, but it looks so typically Texas, and it's one of my favorite scenes on this road (FM Road 1188).  This used to be a place that sold cedar posts.

It was a wonderful day.  The First Day of Spring!

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,
    your faithfulness to the skies.
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.
 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.

John and Papa Went Fishing

Today was our oldest grandson, John's, day off, and he and his papa, along with friend Jordan, went fishing at the BARK Ranch.  They just love to fish there as they always catch something.  It was catch and release today, except for one that they brought home to Grandma, ME!  I do love a freshly caught fish...even one I have to clean myself.

Food, Yes, I Love Food!

That's why I'm on a diet!  But when I eat, I enjoy it!.  Now, when I say diet, I don't mean
DIET, I mean laying completely off the Dr. Peppers, especially, and other sweets, as well, and walking again.  I have been doing that for a week and a half, and I can already tell a difference.  Those cold drinks are delicious...but BAD!

But, as for food, these are two things we had yesterday...both cooked in hot oil.

The first is Indian Fry Bread, for introduced to us in Navajo country in New Mexico.  It is sold by the side of the road and eaten with butter and honey or powdered sugar.  Raf likes them plain; I with honey-butter.  Here's a great recipe.  It makes a bunch.  I cut the recipe I have in 1/4s!

Last night we did beef, pork, and shrimp fondue.  We have been doing fondue a lot recently, as we did in the 70s, and really enjoying it.  We also had asparagus, and I made a batter and bernaise sauce for dipping.  It was delicious.

And the rooster and the chicken watched the fun!
We have enjoyed this so much we have purchased a new, bigger fondue pot from Amazon.  More YUM!

Sky Watch Friday

 God created sky
also earth, trees, water falls
Thank you, God, for all

Trip to Town (Fort Worth)

First, I have to say that soft shell crabs are the best.  Got one yesterday at Central Market to have for lunch today.  YUMMMM!

Yesterday we visited Fort Worth for the day.  As it is Spring Break in Texas, we did not go to the museums or walk through the Botanical Garden.  We'll do that when fewer children are about, thank you!

But this is what we did see.

Will Rogers Memorial Collesum
A neat three-wheeler with two wheels in front for more safety
North Texas University Health Science School where Sarah is working on her PhD
The original Kincaid's Hamburgers on Camp Bowie...with the best hamburgers
Happily for us, John met us for lunch.  He is helping Mary with her cell phone.

A drive through the Fort Worth Botanical Garden

A shopping trip to Central Market...also got wine at King's but didn't take a photo.

See the Soft Shell Crabs!!!!
Then home where we dined on Central Market Deli food so Raf could attend the Camera Club and Stations of the Cross...no choir last night.

A VERY GOOD DAY!

Beautiful art work

Today, a Good Day!

Well, today has been interesting and restful.  I have received two more faeries.

This one is from Pam.  Isn't she pretty with a blue costume, stockings, a butterfly and wings.
This one is from Tinker, and she put it in a faerie painting she made.  Beautiful, and so spring-like!
I also received this beautiful postcard from Lorraine.  It is fabric, with embellishments and is quite lovely.

Because of the encouragement of Giving Hands, I am making art journals again.  We have a round robin going on...internationally.  So, I am now working on an art journal for my friend, Ruth, here at home. These are the only completed pages.  The theme is blue happiness.

Finally here continues the tale of two tails!  Turtle and her love, Blackie Edwards.  This was they this morning on the step.

This evening was a different tale, indeed.  Raf heard Turtle scream inside the house.  We had seen Ginger Pearson trotting across the garden earlier, but it wasn't Ginger, but rather Tabby Pearson, who was challenging Blackie for Turtle's affection.
Turtle watched as Blackie told Tabby things he never imagined about his paternity AND that if he didn't leave the domicile of his beloved, he would, indeed, show him the door...so to speak!
