I am trying a new medium for me...pen and ink. I have never drawn before, but after reading SARK and Violette, they have challenged me to try...so here is one of the first attempts. What do you think? He is called the Christmas Cat...he is our Tennesse Jake Break we found the summer of 2004 in the campground in Dickson, Tennessee.

For you collage artists...here's another "pretty baby" for you to use. Hope you will let me know what you make...post it or email it, and I will post it. Enjoy!!
Today we had a beautiful celebration in Mineral Wells, Texas, for Veteran's Day. We have been holding these celebrations for over 25 years, with bands and choirs and the military and speakers and the canon going off at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Also, today was my oldest daughter's 40th birthday. She and her children and her sisters and their families always meet for the traditional celebration and go on to have a birthday party afterward. It was sunny and warm and just beautiful! Thanks you, God, for this good day!

Veteran's Day will be here Friday. While this photos does not contain a picture of my daddy, John Ficke, it is a tribute to him and all those men who fought for our country...and continue to fight for our country's freedom. Daddy fought in World War II in the European Theatre. He was in General Patton's army. He received the Bronze Star for bravery.
God bless the soldiers, and God bless the USA!
Since I have been creating collages, I have rummaged through multitudes of photos of my mother's family. Many of these people I do not know, but they do make interesting subjects. Here is one of a less than "pretty" baby...probably my cousin :) ...but who knows! Anyway, anyone who wishes is welcome to use this photo in their collage...please share your collage if you use it! Thanks!!
